Deadline extended to September 30

You still have another month to submit your writing or art to Flash Futures PNW: A Climate Fiction & Art Contest ([link removed]) – we’re extending the deadline for submissions to September 30, 2023. Contest winners will have their work published in a zine launched next the spring. The top three winners in each category will also receive cash prizes: $200, $100, and $50 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively in both categories. We are co-hosting this contest with our friends 350PDX, Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, and Portland Neighbors Welcome.

To enter the contest

Submit a short piece of writing (under 1000 words, in any genre) or visual art, responding to this prompt:

What do you imagine for the future of climate justice work in the Pacific Northwest? Show us what that work could look like in the future – 10, 50, 500+ years from now. We invite you to dream boldly!

Why this contest?

Organizing for climate justice is deep, imaginative work. We’re up against massive obstacles, and not just climate change itself. White supremacy, colonialism, capitalism, and other systems of oppression are all root causes at play. Through creativity, we can dream up a future where we are in harmonious relationship with the Earth and each other. We hope this contest helps!
