Dear John:

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

I have had a great time hearing from such a variety of people across the 7th District this summer. I love seeing first-hand the way all the different roles people play in our communities support each other, and I am proud to be a part of it.

Sheriff Keith Vreeman and Chief Deputy Mike Hamann shared how their department serves Pipestone County, and I was so glad to hear about the support they receive from their community in return.

I appreciated the opportunity to tour Ridge View Estates and have Rep. Schomacker join us. I talked with the staff as well as some residents about their concerns. Of course, as is true across the district, the staffing shortage is a serious concern for everyone.

I was honored to speak about Bob Worth's dedication to protecting Minnesota's waters as he was enrolled in the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP) through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Farmers are the first conservationists, working to ensure the integrity of their land will be protected for generations to come.

Last year, Congressman Emmer and I worked to pass legislation dedicating the Avon Post office in memory of W.O.C. Kort Plantenberg, who tragically died in a helicopter accident. This summer, I was honored to speak at the dedication ceremony. Thank you to the community for putting together such a beautiful event and letting me be part of it.

Congressional App Challenge

Students from Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District are invited to create and submit their own app for the annual Congressional App Challenge! The competition is open to all middle and high school students who meet eligibility requirements. Winners will be selected by panels of judges drawn from the local community and will be eligible to be featured on display in the U.S. Capitol building and on the Congressional App Challenge website. You can register for entry here.

The competition deadline is November 1.

Thanks for reading!

As always, my office is open and ready to serve constituents of Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to help. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
