Working Families Party

John,

At a campaign event in Iowa last Friday, a MAGA extremist and 2024 GOP presidential candidate called founding Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley a “grand wizard of the modern Ku Klux Klan,” despite being one of the most ardent champions for racial justice in Congress today.

Why would such a completely baseless, bad-faith comparison be made? Because clout-chasing Republicans know that they can only trend by attacking prominent progressives like Ayanna and twisting history for their benefit.

Can you make a contribution of any amount directly to Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s re-election campaign to show her that we all have her back? As we get closer to the 2024 elections, Republicans are going to be scaling up racist attacks like this against her — and she needs to be ready to fight back.

Let’s be clear here, John. When a right-wing extremist compares a Black Congresswoman and her work uprooting the structural racism that’s keeping this country profoundly unequitable, to the conduct of the Ku Klux Klan, not only is it deeply offensive and blatantly false — it’s dangerous.

Republicans are deliberately fanning the flames of white supremacy by obfuscating the truth about racism in the U.S.

They’re spewing anti-Black rhetoric at their campaign events and designating prominent progressive Democrats like Ayanna as boogeymen to court MAGA voters and fearmonger their way through the 2024 cycle.

These tactics are tired, but harmful nonetheless. And while we’ll always call out these racist and bad-faith attacks when they happen, we won’t be distracted.

Even in the face of these defamatory attacks, we know Ayanna will remain squarely focused on the work of undoing the centuries of harm that has precisely been done to Black Americans, and charting a path of true restorative justice and racial justice forward.

We’ll be standing alongside her in that fight — join us by directly making a contribution to Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s re-election campaign today.
