My parents taught me from a young age that if I don’t like something, then I need to change it. In times like these, there’s a whole lot not to like. There’s a whole lot to feel uneasy about. But we can change it by working together – which is why I’m so glad you joined this team.

For nearly my entire life, I’ve fought for change through public service, be it as a school safety patrol or as Orlando’s first female chief of police. My calling is to help others, and that drove me to run for Congress and fight for Florida’s 10th District.

And let me be perfectly honest, friends: The challenges we face today are unlike anything I’ve seen. The president’s actions demonstrate a dangerous lack of accountability to the people of this country and our democratic institutions. But if I’ve learned anything in my three decades of public service, it’s how to deal with con men who trample over others to better themselves.

As long as I’m in Congress, I will never stop fighting back against President Trump. His corrupt, backward administration must be relegated to a dark and dusty chapter in the history books, and I know grassroots supporters like you will make that happen.

We’ve already seen some profound change for the better. Democrats took back the House and elected the most diverse slate of candidates ever. More women, and women of color for that matter, are pushing back against President Trump’s repulsive rhetoric. And I am here for it!

As co-chair of candidate recruitment for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, I’m working overtime to protect our House majority and get more women and people of color into the ranks. That’s the sort of progress you’re empowering as part of this team.
