Tavae Samuelu
Director of Community Initiatives & Grantmaking, Asian Pacific Fund

Rooted in fa’a Samoa, Tavae Samuelu is a storyteller and community organizer guided by her cultural heritage. Tavae is recognized for her contributions as the former Executive Director of Empowering Pacific Islander Communities (EPIC) and her unwavering commitment to championing the rights of Pacific Islander communities. She currently serves as the Director of Community Initiatives & Grantmaking at the Asian Pacific Fund.

The Changemaker Award honors an individual, company, or organization who is a catalyst for change and whose leadership has inspired action that has led to change on a local or national level that benefits Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities.

Sherrilyn Ifill is a prominent civil rights lawyer and scholar known for her leadership as President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) from 2013 to 2022. Sherrilyn is recognized for her impact on advancing civil rights and fighting for racial justice and equality. Throughout her career she has been a tireless champion of voting rights, economic justice, and has educated thousands of students.
