The 6TH ANNUAL SOUTH TEXAS ADOLESCENT HEALTH SUMMIT [3] was hosted on Aug.
23-24, 2023, and offered both in-person and virtual continuing education to
more than 125 youth-serving professionals from across the Rio Grande
Valley. The goal of the Summit was to increase knowledge, skills, and
abilities among adults who provide services and support to adolescents on
the Texas – Mexico Border.
New this year, the Summit offered a day dedicated to providing teens and
young adults with the knowledge and tools to make healthy decisions for
their futures. The RGV TEEN AND YOUNG ADULT SUMMIT [3] offered young
people ages 17-24 information on a range of topics including healthy
relationships, STI prevention, and accessing healthcare. This day was
supported by Talk about it – Campus Conversations.
_"I absolutely loved my experience. I hadn't been so knowledgeable about
all the resources I had available to me until I attended the Summit. I
really appreciate all the info! Thank you so much!" – _RGV TEEN AND
YOUNG ADULT SUMMIT PARTICIPANT

___“If your school isn’t teaching good sex education, you can reach out
to your school board members or your school health advisory council members
and you can make sure that they know that you can get some priority and
that it’s something that you want to see in your school
district,” _JEN BIUNDO, SENIOR DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND RESEARCH, HEALTHY
