Check out AMP events and programs from sea to shining sea Dear Email, We promised to give you the regular update about the wonderful work our chapters and national office are doing across the country. I’m happy to report that our grassroots from New York to California is spearheading a lot of the work for this just and noble cause where it matters most. This month, our newest chapter in San Diego, California, led by an extraordinary young team, put together the first event of its kind for AMP. The Palestinian Night Market brought together food and specialty vendors from across the region to sell their goods to large crowds after hours. The night market was a huge success with hundreds in attendance with nearly a dozen vendors! Our Minnesota chapter hosted a weekend-long college activism seminar to train young leaders in debate techniques, enhance their political knowledge, and dispel Zionist myths. Young leaders from universities across the Minneapolis/St. Paul region participated and were led by AMPs Education Coordinator, Tarek Khalil and Sana Wazwaz from the MN chapter. Our Minnesota chapter also set up booths at local county and street fairs where they educated thousands of attendees about Palestine and the occupation. This type of public outreach is the essence of AMP’s mission to educate the American public about Palestine and it’s history. But that’s not all! Our New Jersey chapter is holding its 2nd Annual Palestine Fest on Sunday, September 3rd from 1-7pm. The festival is themed "From Jersey to Jenin" in honor of the brave Palestinians of Jenin and will be held at Clifton Memorial Park in Clifton, NJ. In Charlotte, NC, our chapter is hosting a powerhouse panel of speakers at Johnson C. Smith University about "The Nakba: Understanding 75 Years of Catastrophe in Palestine." Dr. Zachary Foster, Dr. Rodney Sadler, Dr. Ilise Cohen, Ayah Ziyadeh and Obaida Mohammad will speak on Tuesday, September 12th starting at 6:30pm. In Chicago, our flagship chapter is hosting its popular 3rd Annual Palestine Fest on Sunday, October 1st at SeatGeek Stadium! The all-day festival, now in its third year, has become a signature project of a chapter that continues to be at the cutting edge of Palestine organizing in the US. In addition, Chicago will be hosting special event with Author and Journalist Azad Essa to talk about the past and present ties between India & Israel. The event will take place on September 2nd at 7:30 PM in the Chicagoland area. On Sunday, October 1st, AMP Minnesota is hosting its own Palestine Day at Spring Lake Park High School! Enjoy incredible food, displays, performances and dabka in this single day Palestine extravaganza! And don’t forget! Palestine Advocacy Days is taking place from October 23-24 in Washington, D.C. Join hundreds of advocates as we continue to change the tide in the nation’s capital. Register here! Finally, the crown of our annual events, the 16th Annual Convention for Palestine in the US, this coming Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago, IL. Get your tickets here! |
