Hello,

District 10 holds so much promise! Between new developments at the Power Station and Pier 70, the amazing housing and open space at India Basin, and the revitalization of public housing in Sunnydale, Hunters View, Potrero Hill and Alice Griffith, we are seeing wonderful growth.

I’m in it for the long term, to make sure that as we invest in our community, we maintain what makes Bayview-Hunters Point so special.

Historically, District 10 has seen underinvestment–no surprise for our Blackest neighborhoods. But we’re seeing change. In 2020 San Francisco passed its largest ever investment in our Black communities, the $120m Dream Keeper Initiative to fund local education, housing, and cultural projects.

But we always need to make sure that this promise is one which serves our community. I’ve been one of the loudest voices in the fight to make sure development doesn’t automatically lead to displacement. I passed legislation to establish a right to return for individuals who were displaced out of public housing in the former Hunters View, Alice Griffith, Sunnydale and Potrero Hill projects. And I’ve helped pass rent relief programs to help ensure the pandemic didn’t push people out of our vibrant communities.

I’m committed to the vibrant neighborhoods that make this district so special, and I hope you’ll join me. Please support my campaign with a contribution to show that we can count on your backing: shamannwalton.com/donate/
