Evangelicals Urge Legislative Solution to Visa Issues Impacting Pastors and Vulnerable Children - Many churches and denominations have long relied upon the Religious Worker Visa program to lawfully employ pastors and other ministers born outside of the U.S. Existing law allows such individuals to renew a temporary visa for a maximum of five years. In recent months, the backlog for immigrant visas in the EB-4 employment-based category, which includes Religious Worker Visas, has reached five years. This is creating uncertainty for religious workers who would have to leave the U.S. (and their congregations) in order to comply with the process and requirements for a permanent legal status. This backlog is largely a function of the significant increase in the number of visa requests for Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) visas for youth who have been abandoned, abused or neglected, because SIJ visas are inexplicably processed in the same EB-4 category, even though they are not employer-sponsored visas. Evangelical leaders are urging lawmakers to fix this situation.

5th Circuit Rebukes Biden/Harris Administration with Ruling on Chemical Abortions - The federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeals recently delivered a serious rebuke to the Biden/Harris Administration with a decision in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA. The Court determined that the FDA has violated federal law by eliminating certain safety regulations for chemical abortions. The Court also found that the FDA illegally allowed abortion pills to be administered without in-person supervision by physicians, without testing for life-threatening ectopic pregnancies and Rh incompatibility, and without adequate limits on gestation to prevent incomplete abortions and infections. They also concluded that the FDA failed to consider the cumulative effect of removing essential safety standards while at the same time doing away with the reporting requirement that would allow them to gather evidence on non-fatal reactions to the chemical abortion regimen. The decision is on hold pending an appeal to and review by the Supreme Court.

Taiwan Expelled from PARLACEN - It’s incredibly alarming to hear that the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) expelled Taiwan and admitted China as a permanent observer. The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) influence throughout the Western Hemisphere should be a concern to us all. The CCP courts underdeveloped nations with high-interest infrastructure projects that trap these countries in debt that they will never be able to repay. The CCP then exerts its pressure on these nations to carry out their bidding within international bodies.
