Before you log off for the night, let me just say this:
Even though you saw a lot of spirited back and forth on the debate stage tonight, the reality is, every candidate agrees on the set of problems we desperately need to fix in this country. We all agree that our health care system isn’t working for the vast majority of people, that corporations have a dangerous amount of sway in Washington, that we need to act now to save our dying planet, and that we must defeat Donald Trump in November. That’s common ground for all of us.
But I disagree with many of the solutions that the other candidates are putting forward to solve these problems. The solution isn’t to put the government in charge of large parts of our economy. The solution isn’t to force people to give up a union-negotiated health care plan that works for them, as Senator Sanders and Senator Warren propose. Unchecked capitalism has failed, but we still need a competitive, dynamic private sector — one that’s regulated with fair and just parameters — to actualize a government that’s truly of, by, and for the people.
Now is not the time to take a step back. Let’s show the rest of the country that we’re bringing change all the way to the White House.
