The summer break is over, and we’re ready to dive back into cultural and language experiences that inspire and engage. Join us on September 7th at 6:00 p.m. for an interdisciplinary conversation and screening of the German-Chilean TV series Dignity. Presented by GUMELAB and the German Historical Institute, this event delves into the TV series’ impact on collective memory.

If you’re looking for some great music, you can immerse yourself in our Jazz@Goethe series on September 10th, featuring Brad Linde (saxophone), Harry Appelman (piano), Zoe Jorgenson (bass), and Keith Butler (drums). Enjoy jazz melodies and wine at 2:30 p.m.

Our in-person German classes are back! Experience immersive learning this fall in the classroom. Choose from a variety of formats to suit your preferences.

TV SERIES AND THE PUBLIC MEMORY OF COLONIA DIGNIDAD

Join us at Goethe-Institut Washington for an interdisciplinary conversation and screening about the German-Chilean TV Series Dignity, organized by the research project GUMELAB (History Transfer through Entertainment Media in Latin America. Laboratory for Memory and Digital Media Research) of the Freie Universität Berlin and the German Historical Institute.

The Goethe-Institut is excited to continue the ‘Jazz@Goethe’ concert series with Brad Linde (soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone) , Harry Appelman (piano) , Zoe Jorgenson (bass) , and Keith Butler (drums).

This series continues in the spirit of the DC Public Library’s ‘Jazz in the Basement’ series, which the Goethe-Institut co-hosted for several years in its previous location on K street. We are very happy to revive the tradition of bringing jazz to the historic U street corridor, where jazz greats such as Duke Ellington once thrived!

Another German-speaking happy hour, together with our friends at So einfach ist es! and hosted Prost DC, will be taking place on Tuesday, 5 September 2023, from 4-7 pm ET at the restaurant. Prost DC is extending their happy hour for all attendees. We're hoping to make this a regular event, so come and check it out!

SPARK Fall Workshop Series Opening

Calling all school administers, teachers, and interested people: Attend our opening workshop for the SPARK fall workshop series on Sept 6 from 3-4pm EST. Joining us will be representatives from the German Foreign Office and Minister Michael Hasper. The SPARK team will answer questions and provide information for SPARK Labs and those wishing to join.

Career Bridge program accepting applications

Attention, we have an exciting opportunity for students!
