We wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us, along with our friends at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, as well as POWER Interfaith, at our Nitty Gritty of Building an Equal Justice Judiciary town hall in Philadelphia on Wed. Aug. 23! There were close to 100 people in attendance and we were blown away with the conversations happening -- not just on our panel but with an incredibly engaged community.
If you weren't able to join us in Philadelphia but would like to listen to the conversation that was had, a video of the town hall can be found here.
Also be on the lookout for similar events being announced shortly for other areas of Pennsylvania! |
Speaking of our Nitty Gritty event, a big thank you to U.S. Representative Dwight Evans for speaking at our event and for the announcement he made just one day later on Twitter. We'll let the Tweet speak for itself as a reminder on why we do this work and the difference we can make.

The CEO of New Pennsylvania Project, a Commonwealth-based voting rights organization, Kadida Kenner contextualized these diverse confirmations in a statement to Democracy Docket, “92 of the [federal] judges identify as belonging to communities of color (almost 67%) compared to the Trump administration that appointed a paltry 14% judges of color, with the majority being white, male and unqualified.” |
Leading up to the Nov. 7th election, we'll be bringing you important news articles and information on the judicial elections that are sure to have a huge impact on the future of Pennsylvania. #CourtsMatter
The Latest Legal Challenge to Reform-Minded Prosecutors (Brennan Center for Justice)
This fall, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court will hear arguments on whether state lawmakers can impeach Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who is accused of “misbehavior in office” for pursuing various criminal justice reform policies. Earlier this year, a closely divided state court panel blocked the bid by Pennsylvania house Republicans to remove Krasner — thwarting the latest in a series of attacks around the country on the efforts of some prosecutors to use their power to check the criminal justice system’s perceived excesses.
