The Texas AV law will NOT go into effect September 1st

*Texas Age-Verification and Labeling Law Will NOT Take Effect September 1*

Dear Members and Supporters,

I'm excited to tell you that Free Speech Coalition and our co-plaintiffs were been granted a preliminary injunction against the Texas anti-porn law, HB1181, this morning. *Texas is blocked from enforcing the law while the case is litigated.*

This is a huge and important victory against the rising tide of censorship online. From the beginning, we have argued that the Texas law, and those like it, are both dangerous and unconstitutional. We’re pleased that the Court agreed with our view that HB1181’s true purpose is not to protect young people, but to prevent Texans from enjoying First Amendment protected expression. The state’s defense of the law was not based in science or technology, but ideology and politics.

You can read the rest of our official statement on the ruling here ( [link removed] ) and the full ruling from the court here ( [link removed] ).

FSC could not have achieved this victory without the support of our members. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Industry support is essential as this and our other cases in Louisiana and Utah move forward. If you're not currently a member of FSC, now's the time to make a serious impact. Join us ( [link removed] ).

Warm regards,
Alison Boden

Executive Director, Free Speech Coalition
