Team,
August marks one year since the Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law. At a celebration for the anniversary, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave a huge shoutout to Sheldon for his leadership in paving the way for the Inflation Reduction Act.
The Inflation Reduction Act was historic. The biggest climate legislation in history made generational investments in clean energy. Something that seemed impossible for a long time – a major national shift on addressing climate change – suddenly happened.
Speaker Pelosi is the most accomplished legislator in history, and she recognized that a lot of the groundwork for the Inflation Reduction Act happened thanks to Sheldon's relentless focus on leading the planet to safety. His speeches on the Senate floor every single week. His thinking steps ahead. Always bringing the national conversation back to climate, and doing the hard work of building momentum and bringing together coalitions behind the scenes.
Now, the Inflation Reduction Act is creating good jobs, and giving the next generation a shot at having a livable planet. It's brought hope to a lot of people. Yet even as Americans face climate disasters in every corner of the country this summer, Republicans are still working to undo the legislation.
We need to protect and build on the Inflation Reduction Act and expand the clean energy economy, and we need more Democrats in Congress who can work with Sheldon to get it done. Can you chip in $5 today to support Sheldon's persistent leadership so he can keep going on climate?
Republicans voted against the Inflation Reduction Act every step of the way and they won’t stop trying to take us backwards and erase our progress.
Meanwhile, Democrats are ready to keep firing up job-creating investments in America, and Sheldon is leading the charge.
Thank you,
Team Whitehouse
