As a gay Latino immigrant, most would’ve never expected someone like myself to end up as a member of Congress. But over the past 8 months, I have received an outpouring of love from people across the country who feel like they finally have someone who represents them. And it’s a humbling experience.

I’ve fought long and hard since the start of my term in the House — to protect our planet, for working families, and accountability of lawmakers. And I am grateful to have had this team stand by my side every step of the way.

But here’s the truth: My team reached out to me earlier this week letting me know that we are pacing behind our August fundraising goals. I am concerned. Concerned that our movement is losing momentum.

The reality is campaigns are expensive. But we cannot let money stop us from fighting for working families, immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, and everyone in between across California and America.

So I am reaching out to you for your support because we need the resources to aid our movement in supporting candidates that can and will take back the House majority. Electing more Democrats to Congress is how we can protect our most important freedoms.
