Labor Day weekend is fast approaching and summer is coming to a close, but we can’t afford to take our eyes off the ball. This Tuesday is the Democratic primary for the special election in Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District, and Vote Mama candidate Sabina Matos is on the ballot!

When she is elected, Sabina will make history as the first Democratic woman and first person of color to represent Rhode Island in Congress. She would also be the first Afro-Latina EVER elected to Congress.
 

Sabina immigrated from the Dominican Republic at 20 years old in search of the American dream. With over 2 decades of experience in public service, Sabina served 10 years on Providence City Council, and since 2021 has served as Rhode Island’s Lieutenant Governor. Now she is ready to roll up her sleeves in Congress and continue fighting for the issues that matter like making housing more affordable, addressing our gun violence epidemic, and working to solve the climate crisis.
