By the early 2030s, on the path we are on, the Earth is likely to pass a dangerous temperature threshold past the point of catastrophic warming. Once our planet reaches this threshold — 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures — climate disaster will be so extreme that it will lead to irreversible damage.
