This is what “off-season” looks like. Special Elections are bellwether elections. We have two State House races in pivotal states on Sept. 19th and an unusual U.S. House Primary election that may impact 2024 elections. They all merit our attention and are just on the horizon!

First, the PA House #21 Special Election will break the 101-101 tie and determine the majority and leadership in the PA House. The incumbent endorses Lindsay Powell, saying that she will “work on building a Pennsylvania for all of us” and her election will be an important victory in this perpetual battleground state. This is a GOTV race and your assistance in reminding voters to register and vote will make the difference.
ELECTION DAY: September 19th (in line 7am-8pm) and mail ballots received by 8pm
Last day to register to vote: September 5th
Our suggested CTA: Text Team Training ([link removed]) on Wednesday, August 30 from 7-8pm EDT. Register and join from anywhere. This is a great one for folks who have never participated in a text bank. You can also continue to check The Action Center ([link removed]) for more actions until Election Day.

Second, in the NH House race for Rockingham HD-1, candidate Hal Rafter is running against a true MAGA conspiracy theorist. This is the quintessential reason The Union exists and why we spend our time doing what we can to bring out the voters - especially when the spotlight is on New Hampshire!
ELECTION DAY: September 19th

Our suggested CTA: Customized Phone Bank ([link removed]) . Never phone banked but want to know how?? This event is for YOU, since you will receive individual training and guidance, and you can participate from anywhere. Also, continue to check The Action Center ([link removed]) for more actions until Election Day.

Third, New and unaffiliated Utah voters can vote along with registered Republicans in the GOP Primary for Utah’s 2nd Congressional District. All they need to do is affiliate with the GOP or register through September 5th. (They can return to unaffiliated status or join any party after the primary.) In this race, Becky Edwards, a pro-democracy, pro-women’s health, pro-climate action, Republican, who voted for Biden in 2020, faces 2 MAGA opponents. The winner will face Democrat Kathleen Riebe in the General. This is a good warm-up for Utah voters for the 2024 Presidential, Senate and House races.
Deadline for Unaffiliated voters to affiliate with GOP to vote in the Primary: September 5th

Our suggested CTA: Let’s get people ready to vote If you know anyone who has recently moved to Utah or is unaffiliated, reach out to them and let them know they can vote in the GOP Primary. In a state currently bright red, their influence in the GOP Primary, the only primary in the state, can matter greatly.
