Hi friend —

Despite having more residents than Vermont or Wyoming, Washington D.C. is not a state, its residents do not have voting representation in either the House or Senate, and Congress maintains the authority to interfere with and overturn its local government. This is undemocratic and out of step with advancing racial justice and equity — values to which LCV is deeply committed.

Soon, the House will consider a proposal that would grant statehood to Washington D.C. — the most significant advance for D.C. statehood in over 25 years.

Given the recent movement in Congress, we need to know where LCV supporters like you stand on this critical issue — should Washington D.C. become a state?
