Future of UK SPF Business Support in Nottingham City Event

On Wednesday, 6th September 2023, Nottingham City Council, and partners will be hosting the *Nottingham City UK Shared Prosperity Fund Business Support Launch* event. The occasion will celebrate the success of the European Funded projects and present the future of UK SPF Business Support in Nottingham

The event is aimed at all businesses in Nottingham City and delivers a full of agenda of engaging presentations, success stories, and project showcases; all aimed at supporting businesses and fostering collaboration within the community.

We are honoured to present Mark Goldby, DL, Chair of the Nottinghamshire Manufacturing Network, as our keynote speaker. With 30+ years of industry leadership and manufacturing experience.

Network with key delivery partners, including representatives from the Nottingham City Business Growth Hub SPF Team, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Medilink, NBV Enterprise Solutions, Visit Nottingham, Innovate UK, and the East Midlands Chamber.

Women in Leadership course

We are working in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University to deliver the *FREE Women in **Leadership **course.*

The course is suitable for women currently working in or towards Leadership and management roles, and is accredited at Level 7, meaning participants can gain 20 credits towards a postgraduate qualification. The course has a blended delivery with the majority of the sessions online (X4) and one face to face.

*What you will gain from the course:*


* Understand the strategies and styles leaders can adopt to address key people issues with your organisation.
* Demonstrate an understanding of organisational culture and how it helps or hinders leadership initiatives.
* Critically evaluate your decisions, behaviours, and actions, past and present to enhance future personal, professional and leadership development.
* Propose solutions to meet leadership and management challenges which enhance organisational performance.
* Demonstrate an understanding on how you can develop your leadership style in order to engage stakeholders.
* Communicate effectively in a report format and present your written work to a professional standard.

Effective Change Management course

We are collaborating with Nottingham Trent University to deliver the Effective Change Management course. *Course is FREE for all participants.*

*About The course:*

The extent, pace and scale of change businesses need to manage has grown significantly, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), this can pose challenges around the resources, capacity or skills needed to manage change.

Our Effective Change Management course is designed to help senior professionals, managers, and leaders within SMEs to develop knowledge and skills in managing change. The course will help you to understand how to design, implement and lead change effectively.

*What you will gain from the course:*


* Understanding approaches to change management whilst also providing opportunities to apply new knowledge to changes in your organisation.
* An exploration into organisation barriers to change.
* An understanding on how to effectively implement change.
* An understanding on the impact of leadership and personal effectiveness during change.
* Effective ways to engage people with change.

Meet The Partners

Each month, Growing Nottingham will be highlighting one of the UKSPF partners and sharing details about what they will be offering. We will begin this month by featuring the University of Nottingham.

UoN manufacturing workshop

*University of Nottingham*

From 1st July 2023, the University of Nottingham will be providing manufacturing business support to enable the development of new products, processes, or services. This includes the manufacture of prototypes or small batches of components, product design support, or consultancy on design for manufacture.

Covering the entirety of the Nottingham City geography, this project will target start-ups, SME, and mature businesses as well as the next generation of creators, designers, inventors, engineers, and manufacturers, who as young adults, will help shape this region and country?s future prosperity.

Diverse Leadership Development course

We are collaborating with Nottingham Trent University to deliver the newly developed *FREE Level 7 Diverse Leadership Development **course**. *

*Who is the course aimed at?*

This course covers a range of diversity and leadership topics beneficial to all growing SMEs, so is for anyone who manages a diverse team and wishes to maximise the benefits of diversity, optimise their own diverse strengths, and improve inclusion in their own organisation, specifically:


* Leaders/managers or aspiring leaders/managers
* HR managers, directors, EDI specialists

*Structure of the course:*

The course is* FREE *to delegates and includes three full-day sessions.

*Day 1: Thursday 5th October 2023**, 9.30am-4.30pm**. **In person ? **NTU City Campus.
*Leadership in SME?s; leadership models, assessing inclusion in your organisation, benefits of inclusion, individual diagnostics activities- are you an inclusive leader, exploring others? difference and strength, organisational power, and politics.

*Day 2: **Thursday 12th October 2023, 9.30am-4.30pm**. In person ? **NTU City Campus.
*This session utilises sports psychology embracing the strengths of every individual in a fun, learning based environment.?

Contents: positive psychology, personal identity, leading diverse teams, using diverse strengths, practical learning from group-based exercises requiring multiple and diverse team skills, reflection upon the activities.

*Day 3: Thursday 26th October 2023**, 9.30am-4.30pm. **In person - NTU City Campus.
*Using diverse strengths in your team, exploring hidden differences: neurodiversity, diversity training- critique and options, making the business case: Your Pitch to the board, writing your report: topic choice and writing your report.?

*Career Coaching*

One-to-one coaching is available with a qualified coach. Participants can book three sessions (each 60 minutes) on a first come first served basis as places are limited. Sessions to be taken in line with programme duration ? starting after PDP submission and finishing after report submission.

Help to grow management course graphic

Boost the performance and resilience of your company and join a growing number of SME leaders taking part in the Help to Grow: Management Course.

The course is 90% funded by UK Government, so the cost is only ?750 per person!

This practical course offers 1-1 support from a business mentor, peer learning sessions and help in developing a business growth plan. It focuses on giving you the tools to improve performance across a range of key areas, including strategy, innovation, financial management, marketing, employee engagement and digital adoption.

Businesses across all sectors can apply, including social enterprises and to be eligible for the course, your business must employ between 5 and 249 people, and have been operational for at least a year.?

Recent satisfaction surveys Indicate that 91% of those who have completed the course say that they would recommend it to other business leaders.

Upcoming courses in the region include at Nottingham Trent on 14th September.
