I’m reaching today because Texas is at a critical point in our state's history.
Texas MAGA Republicans are hellbent on continuing to push their extremist agenda onto everybody living here — a special session over school vouchers is simply an abuse of power.
As a mom with three publicly educated school kids of my own, I can confidently say that Texas public schools need more funding, not less. A plan that pays parents with tax payer dollars to take their kids out of public schools will tear apart the fabric of small towns and rural parts of Texas — places where there are no private options.
And a lot of Republican lawmakers agree. As State Representative Travis Clardy, a Republican legislator who represents rural counties in East Texas, says: There’s no groundswell for [school vouchers] in my district.
