Experts at the Brennan Center for Justice are sounding the alarm about the GOP’s ongoing plot to undermine our elections. And the number one threat they’ve laid out is exactly what we feared:
Tactic 1: Win control of election administration
Pushing false narratives of widespread election fraud, election deniers will continue to run for local and state offices that oversee elections.
Election deniers have one goal: win elections now so they can pick the winners and losers of future elections later.
That’s like putting an arsonist in charge of the fire department, John.
These extremists are too dangerous to hold any office, let alone Secretary of State positions overseeing elections. But that’s exactly who’s running for secretary of state on the GOP side: of the 27 races for SoS last year, our Democrats went up against ten known election deniers.
We defeated these anti-democracy candidates, but the election-denying movement lives on in the GOP, which is why we need to be prepared.
We’re laying the groundwork now and getting ready to defeat the next wave of election deniers, but we can’t do it alone. Can you chip in to defend and elect Democratic Secretaries of State and protect our democracy from MAGA-extremists?
