John, I care about the issues veterans in our district face everyday. Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to connect with over sixty veterans across two roundtable discussions!
Today, in honor of students heading back to the classroom this month, I wanted to tell you about the Student Veteran Restoration Act – my bill to restore GI Bill education benefits to veterans who were defrauded by their educational institution.

Before I tell you about my first bill in Congress, and where it is now, I'm reaching out to my friends and neighbors to ask for their help in meeting our team's final End of Month Fundraising Goal of the summer. The deadline is approaching fast – can I count on your support before the deadline? [[link removed]]

John, for what our veterans have sacrificed, they rightfully deserve their GI Bill benefits.
Yet, under current laws, if a student veteran is defrauded by a for-profit school, there is no way for their educational benefit to be restored.
Which means veterans across our district – like Christopher from Des Plaines, Andy from Hoffman Estates, Brian from Lisle, and Bryan who attended ITT Tech in Chicago – are having to go without being able to finish their degrees.
As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, I couldn't let that happen. Education has always been so important to me, John, and I knew I had to do something. And I did.
Now, I can proudly say that the Student Veteran Restoration Act has made its way out of committee and could be up for vote soon!
I am proud to be a strong voice for veterans and am ready to continue fighting for what they need well into 2024. But my next campaign needs your early support to set us up for success. Our End of Month Fundraising Goal is the perfect opportunity to show your support for my people-first movement – will you chip in today? [[link removed]]
