Hey friends, I’ll be honest - for Democrats like me running for re-election, the first Republican presidential primary debate was all we needed to really start the 2024 campaign in earnest.
Just look at what Democrats are up against - a deep-pocketed national Republican Party throwing its weight around to enact their extreme policies, like a nationwide abortion ban and climate change denialism.
But the chilling part is that the Republican frontrunner didn’t even show up to take his place on primetime TV - because he didn’t have to. Donald Trump’s continued grip on the Republican Party means we’re going to have to push - in my race and in so many key races all across the country - if we’re going to win in 2024 and protect our democracy from a future with a criminal in the White House and a GOP-controlled Congress.
That’s why my team and I have set a goal to raise $3,000 online by midnight tomorrow, August 31st. Will you donate $5, $10, $15, or whatever is meaningful to you to help us build a strong re-election campaign and support Democrats around the country?
Trump’s absence may have been a reprieve for viewers like you and me, but it also meant he couldn’t be held accountable by other Republican candidates on that stage - a critical step if we’re going to break his stranglehold on voters and the GOP as a whole. His continued popularity is fuel for extreme candidates like my opponent - and other MAGA acolytes - to jump into races, even when their beliefs are too far-right for most Americans.
In order to take back our country from Trump and candidates like him, it’s up to Republicans to denounce candidates with extreme, anti-science, anti-democratic beliefs. And it’s up to Democratic candidates like myself to deliver resounding victories at the ballot box.
