Transforming Lives Through Education

Dear John,As a new academic year approaches, we're excited to share the impact of the generosity of our donors in the area of education. Thousands of girls and boys worldwide have received the support they need to flourish academically, emotionally and socially. More children are gaining access to the education they rightfully deserve. Their teachers, parents and community members are being equipped to help in their learning. With creativity and curiosity being nurtured inside and outside the classroom, these girls and boys are gaining skills that will shape the future in important ways.

Here’s a glimpse of what we accomplished in 2022 by joining hands with our donors to educate children in the world’s most difficult places*:

$47 million was invested in 114 programs focused on education, reaching 801,107 girls, 785,919 boys, 502,557 women and 496,539 men.

45,245 girls and boys attended early childhood development centres.

111,609 children attended in-school or after-school literacy activities.

75,415 youth participated in life skills training through World Vision programs.

*Results of World Vision Canada’s projects between October 1, 2021, and September 30, 2022.

Making a global impact in education

In Afghanistan, education remains a challenge. An astounding 8.7 million Afghan children need educational assistance this year, with girls still being denied secondary education. More than 3,693 girls, boys and parents have been reached through World Vision Afghanistan's early childhood development classes in the provinces of Herat and Badghis.

“We are very grateful for having this opportunity for our children. On behalf of my villagers, I thank World Vision Afghanistan and donors for establishing these classes; they build the foundation of education in our community.”
- Muhibullah’s father

Muhibullah is a quiet six-year-old who arrived shy and crying on his first day, but went on to flourish in these classes.

His story shows the transformative impact of early childhood care and education in Afghanistan.
