On September 12, 2023, the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) will host a hybrid event to mark the release of our report "After Our Allies Were Welcomed: Chronicling the Afghan Resettlement Response Since 2021." A panel of resettlement, legal, health, and policy staff from USCRI will discuss the successes and challenges of Afghan resettlement and integration during and after Operation Allies Welcome following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

Meet the Speakers:

  • Zeze Rwasama, Associate Director for Community Integration, USCRI, former Executive Director of USCRI’s Twin Falls, Idaho partner agency
  • Sara Lowry, Associate Director of Legal Services, USCRI, based in Albany, New York
  • Daniel Salazar, Policy Analyst, USCRI
More speakers to be announced

This event is part of USCRI’s ongoing commitment to serving the needs of Afghan arrivals after the evacuation.
USCRI operates the Post-Resettlement Behavioral Health Support Services Program to support resettled Afghans dealing with trauma and the transition to life in the U.S. through culturally and linguistically tailored, trauma-informed behavioral health services. USCRI also manages Immigration Legal Services for Afghan Arrivals (ILSAA) to provide eligible Afghans across the country with free legal services to help them navigate the U.S. immigration system.
USCRI will provide updates on these important programs, as well as the work ahead in the policy and advocacy space.
