Here in Maine, we live for days in late August. Warm days, cool nights, gorgeous 6am sunrises, and a lot of quality time spent with friends and family.

August is also a notoriously slow month in politics — but if you've been following the national news lately, it's been absolutely chaotic.

Republican presidential candidates called climate change a hoax and promised to ban abortion nationwide. Extremists in the House GOP are threatening to shut down the government if Congress doesn't end "woke policies." And inmate P01135809 was booked in Georgia.

It's truly embarrassing, but it's also what we're up against in the coming months. My colleagues and I are fighting for policies that will make a real difference in the lives of workers and families — but we need to hold my seat and elect more Democrats across the country to take back Congress.
