UNITED E-News August 2023 - Starting a new season of Activism!

Dear UNITED people,

The hot season is slowly coming to an end, leaving behind more anxiety and fear regarding the consequences of climate change and the havoc it's causing all over the world, yet we do hope it also brought you some time to rest and recharge for the arrival of this new season.

We as UNITED have concluded our Refugee Week campaign and we took care of the many activities related to our ongoing projects with many amazing partners and considering we want to start in the best possible way, we decided to dedicate this month Newsletter not only to update you about what's going in the Network, but also to provide you with a comprehensive list of the means you can use to get in touch and know about us.

Communication is always key and in the past 30 years we have been going through many things together and while we kept using some traditional means, we are also exploring and trying some others and we want to do it without leaving anyone behind, so here you have a list of our channels and what you can find on them.

UNITED for intercultural Action 30 years

OUR WEBSITE

Our website has gone through a bit of a restyling recently, but it still gets the trace and the memory of these 30 years together. You can find it at this link and through that it's possible to read relevant news and press releases from the Network, subscribe to our newsletter, apply to become part of our Delegates & Experts Team, volunteering with us, keep track of the projects we are involved with or going through memory lane to see past campaigns, publications and conferences products.

We also have the website dedicated to the List of Refugee Deaths and to the Fatal Policies of Fortress Europe Campaign, which is ongoing and take care of the never-ending work started in 1993 to keep memory of victims and take actions to prevent more deaths from happening at the borders of the continent.

SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS

Through the years we have shown our presence through several social media channels, sometimes opening dedicated ones for specific campaigns, projects or initiatives. At the moment though we are active, posting and resharing news, campaigns and project updates on the following ones:

Facebook UNITED FOR INTERCULTURAL ACTION

We are present here with our main page, but also with two private groups: a larger and 10 years old one with those who got in touch with us through conferences and events, which is called UNITED, and the one dedicated to Experts & Delegates. Similarly to the website, we also have a Facebook page dedicated to the UNITED Against Refugee Deaths.

Twitter,@UNITED_Network now sadly become X.

Despite the recent turmoil connected with the change of leadership, we decided to keep our presence there, especially for our Network sake and to monitor what happens and how the scenarios are changing, keeping alive the mission of fighting racism, nationalism and fascism also on this platform, however we can.

Linkedin UNITED For Intercultural Action

We use this platform to share news and opportunities but also to get in touch with young talents and to recruit volunteers, interns and member of our different teams.

Instagram @unitedfia

This is our newest channel and we use it similarly to Facebook to share news, projects updates and campaigns. Also in this case we have a channel dedicated specifically to the UNITED List of Refugee Deaths, @unitedlistofdeath

OUR EMAILS

During the years we have been using several email accounts, but you have to keep in mind that at the moment the ones active are: [email protected], from which you receive the E-News and where we get the majority of our communications, and [email protected] that we're now opening to help specifically sustain the work behind ours and your campaigns and to amplify the voices of our Network. We are considering maybe having new dedicated ones so stay tuned in the next months to know more about it!

We hope this list helps you to get in touch with us in the ways that you find most suitable and accessible, but before leaving you for September E-News, we would like to share two nice project updates that can also be opportunities for some of you.

REFUGIN International Civic Forum

We are excited to invite you to the upcoming REFUGIN International Civic Forum, where the Consortium, practitioners and stakeholders  will come together in an international online meeting, in which the findings from the project’s desk research and survey results will be presented and discussed, providing an opportunity to prepare a practical manual to be developed in later stages of the project. We are keen to listen to your feedback, insights, ideas, and good practices in relation with the educational programmes for young refugees. The forum is happening on September 20th at  10:30 AM CEST on Zoom and you can register at the following link, using the QR Code in the image below or writing to us.
