Kia Ora John,

In this email:

  • We got four lanes to Levin!
  • Election prep.
  • A quick look at what I've been busy doing.

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who signed and supported the petition to build four lanes from Ōtaki to north of Levin. When we launched it in November, Labour said it wasn't needed, it wouldn't be built, and they wouldn't consider anything other than two lanes in 2030. As a result of the petition, huge community support, and working with groups like the Build Our Road group, we have done it. Thank you so much for all the support.

Now the challenge is to build it faster than Labour's ten year plan, and make sure we build the right road; I'm still concerned about only letting buses and trucks and some vehicles on two of the lanes. Only National can deliver this road, and build it as fast as possible.

You might have seen the election date has been set as Saturday September 19th. In early February I spent two days in Havelock North with all the National MPs and candidates. It was a fantastic time planning the year ahead. You probably saw that Simon Bridges announced that National will not work with NZ First after the election. We don't trust them, and we know that they only put NZ First first, not kiwis. Only a vote for National will ensure a change of government this year.

Locally, I've been working really hard out in the community. I've also been building my team, and getting all the volunteers organised. If you can spare just two hours to help out this year, I'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch.

And of course I've spent most of the last month out and about in the community. You might have seen me at one of the following:

  • Levin AP&I Show,
  • Ōtaki fundraiser for Australian Bush Fires,
  • Waikanae Market,
  • On the AM Show on TV3,
  • Medieval Market in Levin,
  • Ōtaki Kite Festival,
  • Visiting local schools,
  • Te Raukura ki Kāpiti opening,
  • Business visits,
  • Door knocking in Foxton, Levin, Ōtaki, Waikanae and Paraparaumu.

If you missed me, then I hope to see you over the next month. Thanks for all the support,

Tim Costley
