** Fanning the Flames: G20 support to fossil fuels hits record high

Despite past pledges to slash such support, G20 members provided USD 1.4 trillion to fossil fuels in 2022—an all-time record. Our research maps out ([link removed]) the situation and shows how eliminating fossil fuel subsidies ([link removed]) and implementing carbon taxes could generate up to USD 2.4 trillion in revenue to support key public needs.

** WTO Public Forum: It’s time for action

The WTO’s largest annual outreach event is on the horizon, with IISD co-organizing two sessions during the September gathering: one devoted to decarbonization, trade, and geopolitics ([link removed]) and the other to bringing the benefits from the new Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies to fruition ([link removed]) .
