John,
While students across the country are headed back to school, 224,000 teachers might soon be removed from their classrooms. That’s because right-wing politicians in Congress are attempting to push through $64 billion in education cuts that will impact students, teachers, and communities in every state.
They want to eliminate access to early childhood education for 51,000 children in Head Start programs; remove teachers from classrooms in lower-income communities; and completely eliminate English Language Acquisition services for more than 5 million English learners―a direct attack on immigrant families and communities.
Already, CHN and our grassroots allies have sent more than 33,750 letters directly to members of Congress demanding they reject education cuts.
We’re fighting to address widening learning gaps between Black students and other children of color, and white students, which grew worse during the pandemic. And we’re fighting alongside our champions in Congress to ensure critical investments are made in public education―which can help bring us closer to equity and justice.
With Congress returning soon from their August recess, we’re keeping the pressure on to reject education cuts. Rush a donation today to fight for strong, fully funded public education.

Here’s what our champion Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro had to say about the right-wing bill that would cut billions of dollars from education funding:
“We are witnessing a widespread attack on education at all levels that should horrify all of us. From preschool to Federal Work Study to financial aid to job training programs, regardless of age or stage in life, this bill means you cannot count on the government for any help. These awful cuts will make it very hard for people and should not even be considered by the full Appropriations Committee.”1
Rosa DeLauro is right and she needs our help. That’s why we’re rallying our allies across the country, as well as grassroots activists in every state, to fight back against these attacks on public education.
Donate today to keep the pressure on Congress to reject cuts to public education and instead make critical investments in our children and our future.
