Statement from Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare

Tarrant County Commissioners Court Unanimously

Votes No Confidence in the Chief Appraiser

The Tarrant County Commissioners Court took a bold step today, passing a unanimous vote of No Confidence in the Chief Appraiser of the Tarrant Appraisal District.

Transparency and accountability are critical for fair property appraisals. The public has lost faith in the Chief Appraiser and his ability to serve.  It has become necessary for the Tarrant Appraisal District’s Board of Directors to take action to restore confidence in the Appraisal District and its operations. To do so, the Board must immediately remove the Chief Appraiser.

It is my sincere hope that as taxpayers, the Tarrant County Commissioners Court, and other taxing entities voice their strong concerns about the leadership failures of the Tarrant Appraisal District, the TAD Board will take these concerns seriously, hire a new Chief Appraiser, and work to re-establish public trust in the organization and the appraisal process.

As County Judge, I will always advocate for transparency and tax relief. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve.
