Here’s an update as we race towards primary day: My likely Republican opponent, Tony Gonzales, was just put on the National Republican Congressional Committee’s list of "Contender” candidates of 2020. This means he’s one step closer to a full endorsement and the big money backing of the GOP establishment.

Here’s why that’s scary: Gonzales has totally embraced Trumpism, and his extreme positions on immigration, women’s rights and gun safety will be devastating for Texans if he’s allowed to win. We’re in a race against conservative extremism, and we have no choice but to win.
