Earlier this summer, after Lauren Boebert tried to force a vote on her baseless articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, GOP leaders in the House sent the bill to committee instead of considering it on the floor—a move to buy more time and sideline the effort, if only temporarily.
Many Republicans facing tight races in November have openly said they do not want to vote on this. A yes vote for impeaching Joe Biden, with no basis to do so, would likely be fatal to their reelection campaigns; a nay on impeachment would inflame the MAGA base they are beholden too and could cost them solid Republican votes, also imperiling reelection.
Boebert has of course vowed to pursue a floor vote anyway. This week, she even said that she doesn't want a committee investigation and fact-finding process—she would rather have an "up and down [sic]" vote on her fact-free partisan bill:
