Dear John,

The Republican Party is not only on the wrong side of history but on the wrong side of reality regarding the right to abortion and reproductive freedoms. 

It is crystal clear. Recent polling finds that 80% of voters, including 65% of Republican voters, oppose a federal abortion ban. 

Yet, instead of listening to the American people and listening to their own voters, Republicans are choosing to spread lies to try and bolster their own detrimentally unpopular opinions about abortion. 

The truth is – abortion bans have led to tragedy after tragedy for women across the country. In states where abortion is banned, women are three times more likely to die during pregnancy, childbirth, or soon after giving birth than in states with access to abortion.

This is a life and death fight, and it is why I have been on the front lines from day one, demanding our federal government enshrine the right to abortion into our constitution. 

But I can’t do this alone. I need you and everyone in this country to understand the seriousness of this fight and join us in electing pro-choice Democrats across the country. This is the only way we can ensure women's safety and a future where everyone has a right to make their own decisions about their reproductive health. 

This was the fight of our mothers’ and grandmothers’ generations, and now it is ours. I will never give up until abortion is protected under federal law. I hope you’ll join me.
