House Freedom Caucus: Let Trump Walk or We'll Shut Down the Government

Jim Jordan and the MAGA wing of the Republican Party just declared that if their demands aren’t met, they’re ready to shut our government down.

This is reckless and wrong.

We have seen what happens when the government shuts down. It would have a disastrous toll on our country.

Hundreds of thousands of federal employees would be furloughed or work without pay. Veterans with disabilities would be forced to wait even longer for benefits. Small business owners would be left with no options to get loans approved — which could cost our economy billions of dollars.

This isn’t politics, team — this is people’s lives. We need to do everything to prevent an unnecessary shutdown.
