John -
The only thing that makes me sadder than climate denial, is when people
who care about the climate crisis think it's too late to do anything about
it.
I know that many of us are already seeing the effects of the climate
crisis all around us, every day, and I know it can feel hopeless from time
to time.
But let's set the record straight — this is not a 'yes or no' issue, where
we either magically undo all the damage we've caused completely or sit
back and watch the world burn.
This is a matter of degree(s). Every little thing we do right now to
demand a new, just and renewable energy system will prevent so much
climate destruction in the future. It will — quite literally — determine
what life on Earth is going to look like for billions of people.
It's SO important that we don't lose hope. That's why we're putting the
entire weight of our organization and climate movement behind Power Up — a
global day of action where people from all over the world will come
together to power up the global renewable energy revolution.
In this email, I'm excited to share some more details about our Power Up
plans in different regions of the world. But organizing a global two-day
event like this isn't easy, and our regional teams need all the support
they can get to pull this off. So before I dive into our plans, I have to
ask:

first contribution
today to support our regional teams — from Latin America to Asia — in
making their most ambitious Power Up plans as successful as possible?

As we speak, 350.org regional teams are planning and implementing the
on-the-ground events that will make our demands for a just and clean
renewable energy future heard all over the world on November 3-4.
So today, I want to tell you a little bit more about what some of our
regional teams are planning. I hope you'll find it just as inspiring as I
do:
* Our Pacific team is busy organizing an action with traditional dancers
on coal mining land in Australia. The focus is on uniting indigenous
climate defenders and creating inspiration — to ignite a spark for the
climate movement that lives on long after the Power Up ends.
* In Africa, the regional team is planning 5 big actions in one day, to
accurately reflect the unity, solidarity, and mass opposition to the
fossil fuel industry that people across the continent feel. In
addition to these big actions, we will support people across the
continent in their calls for clean, socially owned renewable energy to
power their lives and Africa.
* In Europe, our UK, France and Germany teams are organizing festivals
of activity at the heart of the fossil fuel economy's headquarters in
London, Paris and Berlin. The goal is to reclaim the space and
highlight our visions for just, transformative climate solutions, with
creative activities like music, dancing, speeches, skill-sharing,
food, and an atmosphere of solidarity and hope.
* In Brazil, the plan is to do a 'barqueata' — an entourage of about 100
boats outfitted with signs and banners. The vision is to
simultaneously celebrate renewable energy and protest against the
fossil fuel industry.
As you can imagine, this is a massive undertaking for our regional teams.
And the plans outlined above are only some of the Power Up actions that
will take place on November 3-4 — there will also be a huge amount of
smaller actions taking place all over the world.
We have to get this right. In no way is it too late to improve our
futures, but the longer we wait, the worse things will get. We must demand
action all over the world and create change NOW.
[ [link removed] ]That's why I'm asking you today,
John: Are you able to chip in
$3.50
today — or any amount that works for you — to support our regional teams
in making Power Up as successful, inspirational, and revolutionary as
possible? Your contribution today will go directly towards powering up a
just and clean renewable energy system for everyone.
Together, we can prove that it is not too late to create a better world.
Thank you so much for being part of this climate movement, and for
everything you do.
