This month, the Center for Reproductive Rights received a ruling in favor of our plaintiffs in our case, Zurawski v. Texas , temporarily blocking the state's abortion bans as they apply to dangerous pregnancy complications. Hours after the ruling, the state of Texas appealed the decision, blocking the ruling and leaving pregnant Texans at risk. In a separate case in Texas, a federal appeals court ruled to reinstate restrictions on medication abortion, which could drastically limit abortion access across the United States. In other news, the Center organized multiple events in Nepal to help train the next generation of reproductive rights advocates in the region. Keep reading to learn more.

Pregnant Texans Remain at Risk After State Appeals Ruling [[link removed]]
Earlier this month, a Texas judge ruled that the plaintiffs in our case, Zurawski v. Texas , were wrongly denied abortions, and that Texans facing emergency pregnancy complications must be granted access to life- and health-saving abortion care. Hours after the ruling came in, the state of Texas appealed the ruling, putting the ban back in place and pregnant Texans back at risk. We are well prepared for the next phases of this case, and we are more committed than ever to the fight ahead.

Court Rules to Reinstate Restrictions on Medication Abortion in the U.S. [[link removed]]
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled to reinstate burdensome restrictions on the abortion pill mifepristone that could drastically limit abortion access in most states. The ruling will not take effect immediately and medication abortion will remain available under the current regulations while the case proceeds. Medication abortion accounts for 53% of abortions in the U.S., and limiting access to mifepristone will only worsen the ongoing public health crisis since Roe v. Wade was overturned.

Center Organizes Events to Support Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Nepal [[link removed]]
The Center has long been involved in the fight for reproductive rights in Nepal and recently helped organize multiple events for law students and other advocates to learn from experts on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Event topics included abortion decriminalization, youth friendly SRHR services in Nepal, self-managed abortion, and infertility and assisted reproduction. The Center remains committed to working with experts and human rights defenders in Nepal to ensure equitable access to essential human rights.
