The zoo has ignored official guidance... so when will they be closed down for good?

** Hello John,
------------------------------------------------------------
It seems Borth Wild Animal Kingdom is choosing to once again put animals and the public at risk.

Last month the zoo was banned from keeping 'dangerous' animals like lions and lynx captive, and advised to close after being found to be breaching zoo licensing laws. Now the zoo has decided to ignore official guidance and has RE-OPENED to the public ([link removed]) , despite STILL being in breach.

And this has happened just as we have exposed further shocking deaths at the zoo. In documents obtained by Freedom for Animals we have unearthed that 21% of the marmoset monkeys living at the zoo all died in one year. In the same year, five tortoises, who would normally live up to 100 years old, all died too. ([link removed])

We are deeply concerned by these deaths but not surprised when we see the zoo continuing to ignore official guidelines.

This is why we are continuing the fight to have this place SHUT for good... but we need your help!

Take Action!

Here are 3 actions you can take right now:
1. Add your signature to our letter which will send an email to Ceredigion Council asking them to shut the zoo down! ([link removed])

2. Tweet the council with our suggested tweet:
@CeredigionCC ([link removed]) I am really concerned for the animals at @BorthZoo ([link removed]) where too many have suffered and died. It is clear the zoo is being poorly managed and this puts animals and the public at risk. Please use your powers to shut them down! #CloseBorthZoo

3. Make a donation to f ([link removed]) und the next steps in the campaign to close this zoo! ([link removed])

UPDATE: We have heard today that the zoo is trying to fight against the council's decision and have appealed so they can once again keep 'dangerous' animals captive.

The hearing for the appeal is on 26th March at 9.45am and we will be there to represent you all and of course, the animals. So please if you can, make a donation! ([link removed])
I will keep you updated on breaking developments in this campaign and other actions you can take - but for now keep up the good work and keep fighting!

For the animals,

Nicola O'Brien
Campaigns Director

P.S. This zoo continues to put animals at risk and ignore official guidance. Please can you contact the council and ask them to SHUT this place down? And make a donation to cover costs so we can prepare for and attend the court hearing? Thank you! ([link removed])
