Elections are heating up across the Commonwealth. In the seven targeted races where Democrats are either at risk or there is a chance we can flip the seat; each race is within the margin of error.
The stakes could not be higher in this election. That is why I am hosting a fundraiser on September 5th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at my home with the senate campaign committee and special guest Abigail Spanberger. Details for the event are here:
If Governor Youngkin and the MAGA Republicans gain control of the Senate and the House remains in Republican hands, they will push through a six-week abortion ban. This ban will look like the Florida, Texas and South Carolina bans. Providers would be criminalized and women and girls would have no control over their bodies. Think about that.
Now we must help our Democratic candidates stay on network T.V., communicate through cable channels and continue their digital media buys. We have asked our candidates to speak to 300 voters a week and the caucus has supported the hiring of field staff.
It is gratifying to know that when we explain to voters what’s at stake, they are overwhelmingly supportive of keeping access to abortion care in Virginia safe and legal under the Roe v Wade framework.
In fact, most voters say they never believed we would be in the position where Virginia is the only state in the south where one can access abortion care. But here we are.
