"ON THE ROAD WITH TONY..."
Welcome to our August newsletter!
This month, there is a special focus on the Jury Room as we launched our free parking for jurors pilot program.? Jurors have been telling me for months that free parking would be on the top of their list for improvements to Jury Service.
This is a great way for us to show our appreciation for those that serve on a jury, and we also hope it encourages them to visit the many restaurants and shops in the downtown area.
Staying with the Jury Service theme, please see the feature on one of our recent jurors, Courtney Rafferty, a Universal Paramedic EMT who helped assist a fellow juror who was suffering from shortness of breath during Jury Duty.
Finally, we couldn?t help ourselves. The idea was floated in our office to capture the Barbie buzz. We want to heighten awareness to our residents of our free ?Fraud Notify? service that we offer to all property owners. Please see our ?Barbie? themed video feature below!

"*Clerk Forlini Pilots Free Parking for Jurors*"
After over a year of floating the idea, Macomb County Clerk Anthony G. Forlini, together with Mount Clemens Mayor Laura Kropp, are piloting a free parking program for 16th Judicial Court jurors in downtown Mount Clemens beginning Tuesday, August 15.
?We?ve partnered with Mount Clemens officials to benefit jurors as well as the downtown area,? said Clerk Forlini.
Jurors can now park at Mount Clemens Roskopp RED Lots by placing the voucher that is attached to their jury service summons onto their dashboard.?
?When Clerk Forlini brought this idea to us I thought it would be a great way for our downtown businesses to benefit from the hundreds of Jurors that come to Mount Clemens every week,? said Mayor Kropp.
The Clerk?s Office sends out approximately 100,000 Jury summons each year. During 2022, 9,304 Macomb County residents served as jurists.
?This is a great way for us to show our appreciation for Juror service by offering free parking during their jury service in Mount Clemens. In turn I hope it encourages them to visit the many restaurants and shops in the downtown area,? said Clerk Forlini.

*"*Paramedic EMT Assists Fellow Juror*"*
Macomb County Clerk Anthony G. Forlini would like to thank recent juror *Courtney Rafferty*, a Universal Paramedic EMT, who helped assist a fellow juror who was suffering from shortness of breath during Jury Duty.
The juror approached Clerk?s Office Jury Room staff complaining of shortness of breath, and staff observed that she was visibly upset and scared.? The juror identified that a relative had just left the building.? As staff returned with the relative, Courtney walked up and performed an initial assessment with many questions about her symptoms.? She directed staff to call for an ambulance.?
Courtney was able to stay with the juror until paramedics arrived. As a result of Courtney?s quick actions, the paramedics already had an initial assessment and were able to quickly administer aid to the juror.?
According to Clerk Forlini, ?We would like to acknowledge Courtney for her quick action and selfless consideration of another person in need.?

Clerk Forlini would like to thank Register of Deeds clerk *Natasha Gilbert* for her thoughtful suggestion of having a Koala Kare Baby Changing Station installed in the public restroom at the Clerk?s Office, 120 N. Main location.??
Natasha had witnessed a mom changing her baby on the floor of the women's restroom. She immediately came to our office and made a passionate plea for a changing station.
Because of her efforts we had a baby changing station installed within one week of the ask! ?I cannot believe my prayers were answered so quickly!? said Natasha ?The clerk took my concerns seriously and made it happen!?
Clerk Forlini commented, ?I have been here for almost three years and it was Natasha?s advocacy that brought this important addition to our office.?
