Hi there — it’s Congressman Jamie Raskin, the Representative for Maryland’s 8th Congressional District.

Today, I am in Ann Arbor to announce my endorsement of my friend Elissa Slotkin to represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate. I have gotten to know Elissa by working alongside her in the House, and I have seen her fight tooth-and-nail for the issues that really matter to people – access to affordable health care, gun safety, fighting on behalf of workers and so much more – I know there is no one better to represent Michiganders in the U.S. Senate.

And all eyes are going to be on Michigan next November – this open seat in a notorious swing state could very well determine whether or not Democrats’ maintain control of the Senate. But Elissa Slotkin knows a thing or two about tough races – she ran in and won a Republican leaning district – not once, but three times. She’s exactly the type of candidate who can keep Michigan blue and protect our Democratic Senate majority.

Elissa gave me an update on the state of the race: recent polling shows a statistical dead-heat in the Senate race and National Republicans are already launching attacks against her.
