And it’s the communities that have contributed the very least to climate change that are paying the highest price for this crisis.

People can no longer continue to pay with our lives, our livelihoods, and the planet for Big Polluters’ profits. So we and our allies are calling on the Department of Justice to hold the fossil fuel industry liable for the decades of harm they have caused with their deception. Last year, the economic cost of climate and weather-related disasters in the U.S. alone totaled more than $165 billion -- making it one of the most costly years on record.¹ But the longer we let Big Polluters continue cooking the planet at our expense, the higher this number will be.

Right now, U.S. lawmakers are calling on U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to hold the fossil fuel industry liable for misleading the public on climate change. This is an important step in delivering climate action and justice.
