Will you help hold Big Polluters liable?
|
Dear Friend,
More than half a century. That’s how long the fossil fuel industry has known that burning oil and gas fuels climate change.
But instead of stopping their destructive activities, Big Polluters have spent billions of dollars to spread climate denial and continue lying to the public about the reality of the climate crisis. And as we continue to grapple with the impacts of climate change, we are faced daily with the repercussions of the fossil fuel industry’s lies.
This is especially true for people on the frontlines of the crisis. Deadly heatwaves, raging wildfires, and torrential floods: states and cities across the U.S. and in countries around the world are experiencing more frequent and more intense climate-related disasters. And it’s the communities that have contributed the very least to climate change that are paying the highest price for this crisis.
People can no longer continue to pay with our lives, our livelihoods, and the planet for Big Polluters’ profits. So we and our allies are calling on the Department of Justice to hold the fossil fuel industry liable for the decades of harm they have caused with their deception. Take action and add your name to the petition now.

It's time to make Big Polluters pay!
|
|
Last year, the economic cost of climate and weather-related disasters in the U.S. alone totaled more than $165 billion -- making it one of the most costly years on record.1 But the longer we let Big Polluters continue cooking the planet at our expense, the higher this number will be.
Right now, U.S. lawmakers are calling on U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to hold the fossil fuel industry liable for misleading the public on climate change. This is an important step in delivering climate action and justice.
We simply cannot address the climate crisis if Big Polluters are allowed to continue writing the rules, dictating false solutions, and hampering progress on any meaningful solutions to advance climate justice. And holding polluting corporations accountable and liable for their abuses is critical to unlocking the finances necessary to implement the just solutions we need to address the climate crisis.
We need your help to make sure the message gets through loud and clear. Add your name to the petition and urge Attorney General Merrick Garland to hold Big Polluters liable for their role in driving the climate crisis now!
Onward,
The climate team at Corporate Accountability
