Friend, no one should die from an overdose. Unfortunately, overdose deaths have risen dramatically due to an unregulated drug supply overtaken by fentanyl that is stronger and more unpredictable than ever.  

Overdose prevention centers (OPCs) are a proven way to save lives. They are facilities designed to reduce the potential risks of drug use, including overdose and unwanted public use. Trained staff provide sterile supplies and intervene if an overdose occurs. And people can also be connected to addiction services and social supports. 

In 2021, the first two locally approved OPCs in the U.S. opened in New York City. They’ve already averted more than 1,000 potentially fatal overdoses, all while providing thousands of people with a range of other care.  

We need lifesaving OPCs across the country. Learn more about OPCs and our fight to make them available to help address the tragic overdose crisis.
