We're about two weeks away from the UAW contract expiration with the Big Three, Starbucks Workers United continue monthly demonstrations of worker power, and thousands of writers and actors are holding strong in their strike against Hollywood executives and streaming services.

HUGE: Union-busting just got a lot harder!

"The National Labor Relations Board on Friday announced a new framework for determining when companies must bargain with unions without an election—a policy that supporters said will make union-busting much more difficult." 97% of UAW’S Big Three Members Vote YES to Authorize Strike 

"UAW President Shawn Fain announced today that the union’s strike authorization vote passed with near universal approval from the 150,000 union workers at Ford, General Motors and Stellantis. Final votes are still being tabulated, but the current combined average across the Big Three was 97% in favor of strike authorization. The vote does not guarantee a strike will be called, only that the union has the right to call a strike if the Big Three refuse to reach a fair deal." Read more.

 

85,000 healthcare workers are voting to authorize a strike

"The Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions will conduct a strike authorization vote beginning August 26. The vote will last through mid-September, said Dave Regan, president of the SEIU United Healthcare Workers West, at a press conference on Thursday.

 

If union members vote to strike, the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions could walk as early as October 1. With 85,000 members in its ranks, it would be the largest healthcare strike in the country's history, organizers say." Read more.

 

Teamsters Amazon Strike Hits Two Months

"Striking Amazon delivery drivers and dispatchers from Palmdale, Calif., extended their picket line to a delivery station (DJC5) in Hollister, Calif. today, to demand the e-commerce giant stop its unfair labor practices. The growing strike will continue until Amazon reinstates the unlawfully terminated Palmdale employees, recognizes the Teamsters, respects the contract negotiated by the workers, and bargains with the Teamsters Union to address low pay and dangerous working conditions."
