The National Forum on the Human Right to Housing

Each year, the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty hosts a National Forum on the Human Right to Housing. People who are currently or formerly homeless, attorneys, government officials, and advocates from across the country gather in Washington, DC, to organize, strategize, and mobilize on ways we can work to end the criminalization of people experiencing
homelessness.
The Law Center welcomes our partners to develop workshops to integrate our theme: Bringing the Human Right to Housing Home. We believe every person of every background deserves the human right to housing. The goal of the Forum is to enhance the knowledge and skills of decision-makers and advocates to implement policies at the federal, state, and local levels to ensure the human right to housing is
realized for all.
Workshops fall in the following topic areas:
- Implementing the Human Right to Housing at the federal, state, or local level;
- Criminalization of Homelessness;
- Protecting the Rights of Homeless Children and Youth;
- Communications & Digital Activism;
- Community Organizing/Community Engagement.
We are seeking presenters with diverse backgrounds. People directly impacted by homelessness will be prioritized.
The workshops are a space to create innovative and effective ways to fight homelessness and equip housing justice advocates with the tools, resources, and coordination they need to bring the human right to housing home. After attending a workshop, 85% of last year’s attendees agreed that they developed a stronger understanding of the topic, and 65% of attendees learned what actions to take. If your proposal is chosen, you will be part of the national movement
to prevent and end homelessness. Together, we can ensure the human right to housing for all!
