We're writing to you today to offer an urgent update on our Summer Campaign fundraising drive as well as our overall financial situation.

Inflation has driven up our costs across the board, just as it has for you. Meanwhile, donations to nonprofits have dropped in the last year by the largest amount ever recorded.

Compounding those challenges is that Big Tech is actively suppressing links to independent news outlets like Common Dreams in their news feeds and search results, cutting off access to the new readers we need to keep building our base of donors. And this isn’t some wild-eyed conspiracy theory. Facebook has openly admitted it.

Taken together, these trends have created a serious crunch in our already shoestring budget.

That’s why we absolutely must meet our Summer Campaign goal of $80,000 by September 1, so we can continue to pay our reporters and keep our servers running.
