Hello,,

As a valued advocate, we want to keep you informed on legislation that will impact access to health care across the country and how you can take action. In the coming months, both chambers of Congress could vote on crucial legislation that will impact funding for hospital care.

Stay up to date on the most essential bills in Congress:
The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee is planning to convene in September to debate the Primary Care and Health Workforce Expansion Act that would have a significantly negative impact on hospital-based patient care.
This proposed legislation would serve as a huge transfer of funds from hospitals to insurers.
If passed as written, it could jeopardize or even eliminate access to many of the essential services that hospitals provide.

The House Committee on Ways and Means has passed the Health Care Price Transparency Act which includes unprecedented cuts to hospital care through so-called “site-neutral” provisions.
If this proposed legislation moves forward, it could severely impact patients across the country, especially those in rural and medically underserved communities.
It would cut billions of dollars in Medicare payments for hospital care over the next decade.

The House Committee on Energy and Commerce has a series of health-related bills that may be debated in the coming months, with expanded site-neutral provisions that would cut funding for hospital-based care.
These proposed reductions would worsen Medicare’s ability to cover the cost of care and jeopardize patients' access to quality care.
If these bills are passed, it could result in a major cut for hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) that provide essential services.

The Coalition to Protect America’s Health Care was formed to protect access to the best quality health care for all people. Here's what we've been doing lately:
We're sharing advocates' positive hospital experiences to illustrate the importance of hospital care to Members of Congress. These stories have the power to influence policymakers and remind them of the importance of supporting health care workers, protecting Medicare, and strengthening our health care system. Share your story here. [[link removed]]

The Coalition just launched a new ad campaign urging Congress to protect access to quality hospital care for patients. You can watch the video here. [[link removed]]

But our organization needs grassroots support from advocates like you making your voices heard. As we head into the fall legislative session, Here's how YOU can take action:
Send a letter [actnow.protecthealthcare.org/a/senate-help-campaign-non-committee] to your Member of Congress telling them to reject legislation that would impact access to hospital-based care for patients.

Sign up for SMS alerts [actnow.protecthealthcare.org/a/sms-opt-in-email] to stay in the know on any legislation impacting health care access, Medicare, and hospital care funding this fall.

Participate in our Week of Action in September [actnow.protecthealthcare.org/a/week-of-action-pledge] as Congress returns from the August recess to encourage your Member of Congress to protect care.

Thank you for standing up for patients and making your voice heard.
