Visit a state park and soak up the summer sun
Fall is approaching quickly, but there's still time to get out there and make the most of the summer days that remain! One of the best ways to do that is by visiting a Nebraska state park.
Spend the day outdoors doing what you love: picnicking, fishing, camping and boating, to name just a few options. Or cool off in the water! Most state park pools will be open over Labor Day weekend (call ahead to check hours), and there are plenty of swimming beaches to explore as well.
Another option is to attend a state park event. Upcoming opportunities include a full moon hike at Ponca, fishing event for kids at Mahoney, and a special living history event at Fort Kearny State Historical Park over Labor Day weekend, where you can see cannons firing, watch living history reenactments and explore exhibits and reconstructed buildings.?
The list of possibilities is endless, and you won't regret time spent outdoors with family and friends ? or just soaking in nature by yourself. Remember that a park entry permit is required to visit a state park; buy one ahead of time online.
