That is unacceptable. The United States is one of the wealthiest nations in the world. It is unjust to ask hardworking people, especially those in physically demanding jobs, to extend their working years while Wall Street executives continue to amass wealth without proportionate contributions to the system.

Raising the retirement age would be a disaster for our country. Despite advancements in healthcare and technology, life expectancy in the United States is declining. Demanding that citizens work longer when their overall lifespan is decreasing is counterintuitive.

The position is also incredibly unpopular. A Quinnipiac poll from March 2023 revealed that nearly 80% of respondents opposed raising the retirement age even by three years.

Whether it's increasing corporate tax rate, considering a financial transaction tax on stock sales, or other solutions, there are ways to address the Social Security funding gap without further burdening the average American worker.

By ensuring a fair contribution system, we can potentially increase benefits for both current and future retirees.
